Turn Ons: Smart, classy, subtle, down-to-earth

Current Relationship: --
Interests: --

Likes: making good marks, having his things organized, reading, the library, good intelligent banter, curse breaking, Quidditch, Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo, Mary Shelley, Ann Radcliffe, Lord Byron, Bram Stoker, James Joyce
Dislikes: people moving his things, being interrupted while studying/working, cats, toads, messes, fistfights, people invading his personal space
Strengths: His grades. Typical Ravenclaw, his grades were never poor, though he was disappointed by the Es he received on his Ancient Runes, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Potions OWLs. His better classes were Charms, Transfiguration, and Arithmancy. He had his priorities straight: they needed to be if he wanted to be a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts. His eyesight is also rather excellent.
Weaknesses: Terry is a bit uptight, especially regarding his possessions. He does not like it when people touch his things and everything has to be just so. He's a bit OCD about it, but he doesn't let organizing and nitpicking interfere with his studies. He's got a bit of a temper when he notices something of his has been moved or when he's being interrupted while he's studying.
Quirks: He tugs on his belt loops when he's uncomfortable, and has actually ripped loops on several pairs of trousers because of it. If his trousers don't have belt loops, he goes for his pockets.
Random: He can only sleep on his stomach, and he isn't ticklish.

Personality: Terry would like to consider himself a complex being, as well as intelligent to boot. Intelligent, he is. He is, after all, a Ravenclaw. Complex is a bit more subjective. Chances are, he is slightly misunderstood and maybe even a bit disliked by his peers. Terry is rather uptight and would like nothing more than to get good marks in his education. Everything else is second to his grades, and if something interferes with them, he gets rid of it. If he's got a distraction while he's studying, he either leaves the room or gets rid of the distraction some other way. Distractions are one thing, but being interrupted sets his temper off. He's normally a calm, easy-going guy, but when someone interrupts his studies, he doesn't always react very well.

Terry is very particular about the location of his belongings. Making sure they are in the right spot is almost a compulsion for him, and he does notice when people move his things. He doesn't always look for the culprit, though. He'd rather just get them in order as soon as possible without casting blame. He knows it's his strange thing and it's his problem if someone accidentally knocks something of his out of order. Terry does try not to fly off the handle when he notices something of his in the wrong spot, but sometimes he can't help it. If anything, though, he just gets quiet. He doesn't accuse people of moving his things on the chance that it's an accident. Skeptical, he has to see things before he believes them. If someone tells him it's fact, he has to look it up for himself to make sure.

Terry is a bit on the quiet side in general. Some people get on his nerves easily, but he's polite to them anyway when he needs to be. He keeps those opinions to himself, though, unless he has been wronged in some way. If that is the case, he tends to expose the person for what they are to the best of his ability. If he sees a duck, he calls it a duck. The same goes for people being petty or biased towards people purely because of their house or blood. If he thinks someone is just being ridiculous, he stays quiet until it's directed at him. Terry gives respect to everyone he speaks with, and expects the same in return. While he is a bit uptight, he does know how to loosen up (with alcohol, he loosens up even more) and have fun when he can afford to spare the time. He will turn down parties for schoolwork if he has any, and if that makes him a social outcast, then so be it.

In Hogwarts, Terry spends most of his time studying. Don't expect him to jump at the chance to break any rules: he's got a clean detention record for every single one of his years at Hogwarts and doesn't want to ruin that in his last two years. He chooses his close friends wisely, and being a Ravenclaw doesn't automatically guarantee anyone his favor. The only thing that guarantees is convenience, which of course helps breed a close friendship. It's not the only thing that creates them, though. His ideas are practical, and he won't attempt to accomplish something if he knows it is impossible. If there is a quicker way to accomplish something, he won't beat around the bush with it. Terry would much rather get it done quickly and correctly than drawing the process out with unnecessary steps. He doesn't normally get nervous, but it does sometimes happen that he'll start stammering around girls if he's interested in them or if the conversation hits a topic he'd rather avoid.

History: Ephraim Boot met Josephine Fairfield when he was nineteen and at a twentieth anniversary party for his aunt and uncle. Josephine's parents were friends of his aunt and uncle, and he found out they'd known her since her birth. Ephraim spent a lot of the evening talking to Josephine, especially while his aunt and uncle were busy talking to other people. She was good company, and he enjoyed talking to her so much that he asked about her the next time he saw his aunt and uncle. Ephraim learned she'd asked about him as well, and after a bit of snooping in his aunt's address book, he found Josephine's telephone number. He called her when he got home and asked to see her again under whatever context she wanted. It didn't have to be a date if she wasn't interested in a date. They developed a close friendship over the course of a year and didn't decide on dating until fifteen months after that phone call. They didn't get engaged until another year had passed.

Terry Randolph Boot was born a little over four years into Ephraim and Josephine's marriage. Both had agreed they wanted two children, and they were both extremely pleased with two sons. Their first child had been a son whom they called Phillip Martin. Terry was a temperamental baby, only liking to be carried in the person's left arm, and he cried when he was held while sitting down. He liked being carried around, but once he could walk he hated being carried altogether. He soon found himself being nitpicky about everything, from what order his clothes were put on to the food on his plate touching. Ephraim and Josephine dealt with it, though, because it didn't seem like they would be able to change it. When Terry turned seven, they noticed strange things happening around the house, but it wasn't explained until just before he turned eleven.

Terry wasn't sure about attending a school for magic, and neither were his parents. They didn't know anything about his being a wizard, but they went with him to get supplies and were enthralled by Diagon Alley, looking like tourists. Terry, however, acted like he belonged there, because he figured he did. After finding everything he needed and learning what he needed to know, he boarded the Hogwarts Express days after his birthday. Terry initially ignored the children he shared a compartment with, but they forced him into conversation, and it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. As long as people respected his boundaries. He was sorted into Ravenclaw, which pleased him. Living with four other boys took some getting used to, but he survived. They mostly respected his requests, and he found out he could loosen up a bit with having his things in the absolute correct place.

In his fifth year, Terry joined Dumbledore's Army with one of his friends, Michael Corner. He was tired of not doing anything in Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Harry Potter's group was an opportunity to change that. Michael had to practically pull him into it, and after learning that extreme precaution would be taken so they wouldn't get in trouble, Terry went for it. That and dealing with Draco Malfoy on the train ride back to London that year are two of the few risky, rule-breaking endeavors Terry has involved himself in. After his sixth year, his concentration was solely on protecting his family, as they were all Muggles and Voldemort was killing Muggles left and right. They didn't want to go into hiding, though. Terry returned to Hogwarts in the fall more anxious for the end of the term than ever before.

After he finished his schooling, Terry was thrilled that he was able to become a curse breaker like he'd planned all along. He wasn't bothered by the move to London, even if it was a Ministry-implemented thing, because he'd planned on finding a flat there anyway to be closer to the central hub of England and the wizarding world. He could still spend time in Cornwall when he wanted to, after all, and he'd be able to get out of London for work as well. They couldn't penalize him for having a job that took him to other countries for a period of more than a day. Enjoying the money that came in from his cooperation, Terry resigned himself to life on his own in a quiet building.

Astrology: Ravenclaw Virgos are skeptical, analytical, mathematically oriented, and sharp witted. Many become great magi, alchemists, and astrologers. These people love ideas and theoretical discussion, and their leaps of intuition can be uncanny. The Earth element makes them shrewd and pragmatic, and keeps them from flying off into cloudcuckooland.
